Dear patron of the Performing Arts Department of Carolina Forest High School:
During this difficult and ever-changing response to the global covid-19 crisis and given the closure of all South Carolina schools for the remainder of the school year, it is with a heavy heart that CFHS Performing Arts will be canceling our 2020 production of MAMMA MIA. For more than 23 years we have relied on the support of our loyal patrons and the family and friends of our talented students to bring you performances, sets, costumes, live music and staging that are ultimately the best and highest use of your ticket monies as possible. We strive to provide an educational theatre experience for our students that is as close to the professional world as we can achieve. This year's production of MAMMA MIA was no exception, and our hearts are broken that the final piece of this important experience for our students--bringing the story to life in front of an appreciative live audience--will not be able to take place.
The CFHS Performing Arts operational budget is derived solely from ticket sales and donations. Because covid-19 shut down the production of MAMMA MIA just four days before opening night, we find ourselves and our hardworking students in a very difficult situation with those funds having already been used to pay for licensing, a stunning set construction, costumes, props, lighting enhancements, sound needs, and many other regularly incurred costs for the production. However, because of our deep appreciation for your valued support of this year's production, we would like to offer you a BOX OFFICE CREDIT toward next year’s spring musical. Should this option not work for you and you would prefer to generously donate these funds to our program, please reply to this email indicating DONATION in the body of the email.
How Your BOX OFFICE CREDIT will work:
Next spring, we will open ticket sales to those of you who have a BOX OFFICE CREDIT for early and private buying power before ticket sales are made public. This allows you the opportunity to get the best possible seats before others purchase; in this way, we hope to show our thanks for your understanding. We will be more information coming to you in the future as we know more about next year's production.
